Communication 6/2017: Unjust attacks of M. Morawiecki on independent courts
According to a PAP message cited by some Polish media, Deputy Prime Minister in the government of Law and Justice (PiS) Mateusz Morawiecki spoke in the United States on the subject of Polish justice. In this communication we present three examples of his unjust and unjustified attacks on independent Polish courts.
For years, FOR has been addressing the issue of efficiency of the Polish judiciary, assuming as certain that reforms to improve this efficiency should be carried out in a manner that respects the independence of the judges. Such reforms include relieving courts of some of the cases, changing judicial procedures, making a better use of alternative and out-of-court resolution of disputes, or implementing more effectively modern technology in the courts.
In the last months, PiS, including M. Morawiecki, attempt to undermine, by attacks on judges, the fundamentally important constitutional achievement of years since 1989, that is their independence. And so far PiS do not do much in the realm of real improvement of courts, although they also attack them for being too slow. It is like beating a tied-up man for not moving.
Full communication (in Polish) is aviliable here.
